    Oscar Nomination Predictions: Best Actor

    Mickey Rourke in "The Wrestler"

    Mickey Rourke in "The Wrestler"

The 2009 Oscar nominations will be announced Thursday, January 22nd, and in anticipation of the announcements, I’m presenting my personal picks for who is mostly likely going to score a nomination. How accurate am I? I don’t know- however, I’ve correctly picked the Best Picture Oscar winner in August of each year for the last 5 years (by the way, my choice for 2009- Slumdog Millionaire).

    Most Likely Best Actor Nominees:

    • Leonardo DiCaprio, Revolutionary Road
    • Frank Langella, Frost/Nixon
    • Brad Pitt, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
    • Sean Penn, Milk
    • Mickey Rourke, The Wrestler

Possible Spoiler: Clint Eastwood, Gran Torino

Don’t count him out: Oscar winners love Eastwood. Though Gran Torino, might not have gotten the best reviews, the movie has had serious box office success.

    Top 10 Lost Episodes

The "Lost" season 5 cast promo picture.

In honor of the premiere of season 5 of “Lost” on January 21st, I’ve decided to post my lest of the top ten episodes so far. I plan on re-watching all of these in the upcoming days. I’ve already watched all of the season 4 DVD set, and I actually found the season to be much better than I remembered. It’s probably my third favorite season, behind the third and the first.

    1. “Through the Looking Glass”-3×22 (Charlie dies, Sayid snaps necks, and a major change in the show structure happens in the 3rd season finale, which totally revitalized the show)
    2. “Exodus- Part 2″-1×24 (a very memorable cliffhanger: Walt being abducted from the raft)
    3. “Pilot-Part1″-1×01 (the episode that started it all)
    4. “The Constant”- 4×05 (made Desmond everyone’s favorite character; a real tearjerker)
    5. “Two for the Road”-2×20 (one of the only good episodes in the slow-paced 2nd season; Michael betrays Ana Lucia and Libby)
    6. “Deus Ex Machina”-1×19 (Boone falls from the plane in the trees)
    7. “Greatest Hits”-3×21 (Charlie’s swan song, also a real tearjerker)
    8. “The Other 48 Days”-2×07 (an exciting and thorough look at what happed to the Tailies)
    9. “I Do”- 3×06 (Sawyer and Kate finally hook up)
    10. “The Shape of Things to Come”- 4×09 (the rare moment one feels sympathy for Ben; it made him more three-dimensional)
